October 6th, 2013 – Grilling
Sunday, October 6th.
VBC Meeting #8: Grilling
Hosts of the Month: Slynn and Ramon
The theme of the month was “grilling,” but it could have alternatively been called “potato salads”–we had three! We watched Ramon grill.
This was our food:
Ramon: Brautwurst and Sauerkraut; Grilled Avocado
Ramon has been making a lot of different sausage recipes he picked up on PPK.
Brenda and Victor: Lentil, Quinoa, Sunflower Seeds, and Mixed Green Salad with Organic Mediterranean Herb Vinaigrette
Lauren: S’mores Cookies; Grilled Potato and Pepper Salad
John Morley: Herbed Red Potato Salad with White Wine Vinegar
Slynn: Grilled Pound Cake with Grilled Pineapple and Tofu Whip
Lilly: “Mean Greens” Hummus; Grilled Mustard Golden Potato Salad
Lilly provided the following ingredients and description for what she brought:
Hummus: Garbanzo beans, olive oil, garlic (or garlic powder), salt, and a couple of squeezes of a lemon (optional). Simple. Blend in food processor.
Pita chips: Pita bread cut into squares, baked in oven for 10-15 min.
(not homemade but re-imagined & I used the oven ;))
I based it off this this recipe shared with me by Kristen (thanks Kristen!), but I used stone ground mustard. Jesse and I decided to pre-grill it on the my electric grill prior to the event, so it was ready for eatin’.
